Today, we had the great pleasure of seeing our friends' new baby IN THEIR home!! Finally, after years of trying to conceive, they decided to take steps to adopt. It took months of hard work, gathering documents, getting various department's permission, getting visits by this and that inspection committee, and many long days and weeks of waiting for this precious little bundle to arrive safely into their arms. As you can likely tell, she is a preemie. She weighed only about 3 pounds when she was born, and it is a complete miracle that she is even alive today given the very rudimentary health care system in place here. She eats well, and sleeps consistently which is a good sign that she will gain weight and begin to look more healthy.
I cannot begin to tell what abundant joy she is bringing to her new mom and dad. It is wonderful to see them so happy.

My own daughter, who loves babies to pieces, even got to hold this teeny-tiny little girl!! She was so very excited to get to do this! But first she had to pay to see the baby as per the local custom!!
After we had our fill of holding this little, and I do mean little, bundle of cuteness, we had the mandatory tea drinking time. But this time, we got to share some time with some other friends who moved out of our area about a year ago; so visits with them are few and far between. But the time was sweet and the conversation was meaningful and deep. We talked about some serious issues that face our work (and theirs). They have tender hearts towards the brokeness that comes out of incest and abuse- both of which happen all too frequently in our place of work. How do you help someone heal from that? How can you bring them closer to their Maker despite the deep wounds and destroyed trust of people? There are no easy answers!!
Until Next Time,
Your SteppeSister

Hi! It's Tammie Manfull, MAGICFOR2 - I just found your blog - didn't realize it was a link :) I really enjoyed the Wedding and baby reports. So wonderful you are doing missionary work. The musical instrument, (I forgot the name) playing by your daughter is really good. Hope she doesn't start singing like the lad at the wedding! ha! ha!
God Bless You for your missionary work!
Thanks, Tammie!!!
Glad you found my site and that you are enjoying it!! We have a lot of adventures here, and for the most part enjoy life here. Go back further, there's a great trip report on our time in Dubai last spring :)
Hello :) I just came to your blog this morning and ermm..read the whole thing! I've really enjoyed reading about the family's adventures, and seeing and learning about someplace completely new and different. Piper enjoyed looking at the pics as well. I quilt a bit, and it was very neat to read about your experience with the ladies you're teaching, and to see the results! Looking forward to keeping up with your blog now that I've found it :)
