A Celebration of Victory- May 9th on the Steppe!

May 9th- One of the biggest holidays around this part of the world. Since it falls the day after my birthday, I was too tired to get up and join the festivities on the Town Square this year, so I left the official photography duties to the older girls. They did a splendid job at capturing the pomp and circumstance that usually surrounds this holiday.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with May 9th, that is the day that Victory was officially declared in Europe after WWII. Russia and all the Former Soviet Union countries usually do up grander-than-life celebrations. It is a HUGELY reverent time in which Veterans from any war are honored, and the fallen are remembered with parades, tributes, parties and what not. It is also a convenient time for the militaries to exhibit themselves in all their glamor. On another note, I finished Week 3 for my C25K Running Program yesterday, but due to serious air sucking issues, I've decided to go at this Sequence another few times. But I'm feeling pretty good. I can see some difference in my calves, and am hoping this toning works its way up through the all too "soft" thigh area. So the aerobic part is 20 minutes and I'm up to jogging 9 of them. I never thought I'd be there. All is good!
